In the summer of 2014, the Yazidis are at the center of international attention, when the Islamic State seizes Sinjar, the main city of this Kurdish monotheistic minority, located in northwestern Iraq, near the border with Syria. There and in the surrounding villages, Daech perpetrated heinous crimes, threw tens of thousands of people onto the roads, killed men, and reduced women to sexual slavery.
